Gazetteer & History
Wana enters the record most sharply in November 1894, when the camp of the Delimitation Commission was attacked. The episode shaped the subsequent shape of administration in the south, and Wana was afterwards developed as a permanent camp with a garrison, airstrip and civil offices. Gazetteer entries describe the surrounding plain as unusually open for the region, which explains its long military attractiveness.
