Gazetteer & History
For much of the colonial period the affairs of the Mahsud and Wazir tracts were transacted through offices at Dera Ismail Khan. Its district gazetteer, settlement reports and court records are consequently among the richest documentary sources for the surrounding hill country, and this archive treats the town as a research gateway as much as a place in its own right.
